The internet, social media, and big data techniques have made it possible to gather and study large datasets of human behaviour including datasets about Indigenous communities. Researchers can easily get access to large social media datasets without consent or any ethics oversight. The Respectful Data Management (RDM) workshop will organize discussions around a set of concrete and complex cases. Resources for further study will be made available, but the heart of the workshop is the need for Social Science and Humanities researchers to start making respectful data management part of their scholarly practices.
