Before you register

  • Review the Congress fees, the associations page and the Association conference fee schedule to find your association and decide which conferences you wish to register for.
  • You are welcome to attend any association conference at Congress regardless of membership status, if you pay the corresponding member or non-member fee.
  • If you are attending your association’s conference as a member or presenting at Congress 2021, renew your membership status on your association’s website and check out the Info for presenters page.
  • If you are a member of the public and/or are attending open events only, you need to register as a community participant. 
  • Attending open events as a community participant costs $25 and registration is required. However, if you have already registered as a regular attendee and have paid the Congress and association conference fees, then you do not have to pay the open events fee, as it is included in the Congress fee. You can purchase community passes from Monday, May 17 until June 30, 2021. Find out more.
  • You must register to Congress 2021 to participate in any type of programming. No registration = no access to the virtual Congress platform.

How to register

Log into the Congress registration system to register between early January and June 4, 2021. You will automatically receive an email confirmation and be able to print your registration receipt. You will also be able to re-enter the system at any time to make changes. 

If you are new to Congress, you will be prompted to create a new account. Those who have attended Congress in a previous year (2008 to 2018) will be prompted to enter their existing email address and create a new password. 

After you have registered, you can return to the Congress registration system to: 

  • Print your registration receipt 
  • View/update your personal information 
  • Add another association's conference 
  • Request a refund (see Terms and conditions)

Fees

The registration fees are broken down into two components – the Congress fees and the Association conference fees, both fees are mandatory in order to attend the associations conferences. For more information about this structure, consult About the fees.

Association conference fees

The association conference fees are mandatory for all attendees participating at an association conference or session, including organizers, speakers, presenters, panelists, association staff, special guests and those chairing or attending a session. Association conference fees do not cover the association’s membership fees. For membership inquiries, please contact the association directly.

If you wish to ONLY attend those open events indicated in the online calendar of open events, then the association conference fees do not apply to you. However, you will not be entitled to participate in association conferences or association events where access is restricted to registered attendees at that association.

*Congress open events

Congress open event programming only: this special registration rate of $25 will be available starting May 17, 2021. This registration option is for attendees who wish to only participate in Congress open event programming. This category provides access to University of Alberta programming, Big Thinking lectures, Career Corner workshops, partner/sponsor programming, association open events and the Congress Expo as well as exhibitor programming. Access to over 50 sessions, pre-recorded, Simu-live and live, will be included in this package.

Access to this special registration rate does not provide access to an association conference’s full program. Attendees who wish to attend their association’s full conference will be required to upgrade their registration to either a ‘regular attendee’ or a ‘student, retired, or unwaged attendee’. These registration types will also give you access to the open events between May 27 and June 4.

Registration will be open for pre-recorded or archived open event sessions until June 30, 2021 and if you had not registered prior to June 4, the fee is $25. More information will be available in early 2021.

Terms and conditions

  • Telephone or mail-in registrations cannot be accepted.
  • Cancellations are accepted until April 15, 2021, subject to a $25 adminitration fee. Unfortunately, no refunds are possible after this date.
